Carbon Recycling

Recently, a new methanol plant for Carbon Recycling International was completed.  The plant is located near the Svartsengi geothermal energy plant at Reykjanes.

The plant is the first of its kind in the world, utilizing carbon dioxide (CO2), from the geothermal energy plant for the production of green fuel.  The plant marks a certain milestone in the production technology of green fuel.

The plant produces recyclable methanol, up to 4000 tons annually, with the fusion of hydrogen and carbon dioxide.  Methanol can among others be used in the production of biodiesel and as an additive for gasoline.

ARKIS are the architects of the plant and worked on the project with Mannvit and Carbon Recycling International.
